What is the Schroth Method?

Schroth Method is a physical therapy technique for individuals with scoliosis, kyphosis, and postural dysfunctions. This method can be used to treat patients of all ages and is a very individualized program determined by the patient’s curve pattern, severity, symptoms, and patient’s age and level of function and ability. The aim of Schroth exercises is to improve scoliotic posture and postural stability through curve-specific exercises and 3D rotational corrective breathing. These postural self-corrections are also carried over onto the activities of daily living to help reshape the trunk and strengthen the muscles in the newly formed posture.

The goals of the Schroth method:

● Improve scoliotic posture and reduce trunk imbalances

● Halt curve progression and stabilize the curve

● Avoid surgery

● Decrease pain

● Improve respiratory function

● Provide patients with tools to carry over corrections to daily life to improve quality of life and enjoy activities they love

All treatment sessions are done one-on-one in a private treatment room for 60min, once or twice a week.

SCHROTH METHOD FEEDBACK

Katalin Kapoor is a physical therapist that works with me. I’ve seen many other PTs in the past, but I never met anyone like Katalin, she is truly amazing! She is very knowledgeable, experienced, and caring. She created a very personalized treatment for me that combines pain relief and exercises. Katalin takes pictures and videos of the exercises to help with recalling them and performing them correctly at home. She has so much dedication, compassion, and kindness that makes you feel that she truly cares about you. I am extremely lucky that I finally found Katalin, and she works with me. I am very grateful to Katalin and highly recommend her.

Katalin is a highly skilled, experienced Physical Therapist. She relates to you as a person and not just to your physical condition, which brought you to her. Katalin has incredible observation skills and helped me understand my diagnosis of scoliosis. Together we worked on how to maximize my functioning and well-being and educated me to prevent further decline and diminishment. She provided practical exercises for everyday situations, especially around my home, to maintain my functioning. She videoed the exercises to help me recall the correct posture and technique. She answered my questions which I often repeated because I didn’t ‘get it’ the first time. Thank you, Katalin.

Katalin Kapoor is my Schroth therapist. I cannot begin to express how amazing she is and how much she has helped me. She has so much knowledge and intuition about scoliosis and knows exactly what I need to relieve pain and discomfort. She has an understanding of the spine and the muscles that are affected by the curves. She is creative when developing exercises and uses different cues until she is sure that I have made the connection. She listens and is flexible to customize treatment to fit my lifestyle. The treatment is very personal and different for each individual. It is a practice that builds with each visit. It’s a gradual progression in which you will develop a very clear mind-body connection. Katalin guides you along this sometimes frustrating path with patience, knowledge, and compassion. I have the privilege to work with her each week. I have learned so much and am eternally grateful that we were brought together.

Katalin Kapoor is the best Physical Therapist I have ever had. I have probably had 15 physical therapists over the years. She was able to solve a problem that has plagued me for 15 years. She is so kind, experienced and knowledgeable in so many areas. She always made me feel comfortable. She helped me with pelvic floor PT, and worked on my posture, hamstring tendinitis, and diaphragm breathing. She is great at explaining your issue and how it affects your whole body, and then she goes to work. You will be lucky to have her as your Physical Therapist.
