What Is Hand Therapy?

 

 

Hand Therapy is the art and science of evaluating and treating injuries of the upper extremity including the neck, shoulder, arm, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand.

Diagnosis may include but are not limited to:

  • Fractures
  • Tendon/Nerve injuries/repairs
  • Joint replacement (arthroplasty)
  • Tendinitis/Repetitive Motion Disorders
  • Arthritis
  • Dupeytren’s Disease
  • Pain Disorders of the upper extremity, head and neck (including cervicogenic dizziness)

Why See a Certified Hand Therapist?

A Certified Hand Therapist must pass a certification exam that demonstrates advanced knowledge in all areas of the upper extremity before being granted the right to use the CHT designation. 

A Certified Hand Therapist will work closely with you and your referring physician/surgeon to provide a continuum of care which may begin within days of your injury and/or surgery and will continue until your return to work and a productive lifestyle.

Roxanne Perry
OTR, CHT

Roxanne Perry OTR, CHT is a licensed Occupational Therapist and certified Hand Therapist. She has over 20 years of clinical experience treating injuries of the upper extremity. Roxanne graduated from the University of Buffalo with a bachelors of science in Occupational Therapy and began working immediately in her specialty field of othopedics.

Roxanne has spent a majority of her career working in Manhattan and is fortunate to have worked with many of the top leading hand surgeons. She continues to love what she does and is very happy to be bringing her experience to Armonk Physical Therapy.
